The FIUPI Code Of Ministerial Ethics
1.
I will strive to abide by the fundamental Apostolic doctrines as
recorded in the Holy Scriptures and outlined in FIUPI Articles of
Faith.
2.
I will strive to accept and respect that other ministers will have
differing views on non-fundamental theology, convictions, and
standards. I agree to respect my fellow ministers’ beliefs even when
my own personal theology, convictions, and standards are dissimilar to
theirs.
3.
I will strive to take care of myself in body, mind, and spirit. I
will strive to avoid: unhealthy addictions & lifestyles- abuses of
my body, the temple of the Ruach Kodesh; of excessive and unnecessary
stress and pressure on the mind; and of condemnation, division,
confusion, and complacency of spirit.
4. I will strive to safeguard the good name of the ministry by doing my utmost to avoid;
Intoxication- (Avoiding addictive and/or excessive
alcohol consumption and if my own personal
convictions so dictate then I will abstain from
alcohol.)
Immodesty- (Avoiding overly exposing the body in public.)
Immorality- (Avoiding dishonesty in a romantic
realtionship and avoiding sexual contact outside the
context of a loving and committed relationship.)
Insolvency- (Avoiding intentional defrauding, not
merely monetary misfortune and avoiding
unaccountability or abuse in church or ministry
finances.)
Indecency- (Avoiding public display of graphic sexual images and conversations.)
Illegality- (Avoiding disregard and disobedience to
civil law except where it may contradict God’s
law.)
5. I will strive to neither exchange nor tolerate scandalous,
malicious, or inaccurate information with or about other ministers.
Issues I may have with others I will take direct to them, rather then
to uninvolved parties. I will encourage all to reconcile
expeditiously.
6.
I will participate in the organization's process for dealing with
allegations of ministerial misconduct in the event of any allegation.
7. I will not make pastoral contacts in the field of another pastor without his knowledge and consent.
8.
I will strive to hold as sacred all confidences shared with me. I will
not misuse the trust placed in me and the unique power inherent in my
role by exploiting in any way those who seek my help or care. I will
not use my office or authority to apply influence upon a parishioner or
others in order to get bequests, gifts, or loans that would personally
benefit me.
9.
I will not engage in any form of child abuse, sexual, physical, or
emotional. I will report all cases of suspected child abuse in
accordance with state and federal laws.
10.
I will strive to treat my family, my church, the lost, other ministers,
both within our organization and in the larger Christian community,
with Christian love and respect.
11.
I will lovingly, compassionately, mercifully, and kindly exercise the
authority of a spiritual leader rather than that of a dictator.
12. I will hold the interest of the church- local, national, and international above my own self-interest.
